The meteoric rise and fall of the Motor City, the worldwide symbol of industrial might and innovation for over half the 20th century, has been well-documented. Despite the naysayers and those who seemed to take delight in its decline, today’s Detroit embodies the spirit of the city motto penned by Father Gabriel Richard over two centuries ago after it was destroyed by fire. Speramus meliora, resurget cineribus, meaning “We hope for better things. It will rise from the ashes.”

Cruise the streets of Detroit with us on this intimate motor tour of the city that put the world on wheels and discover the amazing history of innovation, philanthropy, social justice and culture. Feel the excitement firsthand as you witness the revitalization underway of a major post-industrial American city many had written off.

While many of the downtown spots featured on our walking tour are included, the three-hour “See The D on Wheels” tour ventures beyond the central business district and features more must-sees as well as lesser-known sites. A few places you’ll visit are the stadium district, cultural center, historic neighborhoods, Eastern Market and Belle Isle, our beautiful island park.

Highlights include a mini tour of the Ford Piquette Plant, birthplace of the Model T; photo op on the porch of Motown Museum, where the sound heard around the world was recorded; visit to the Fisher Building, an Albert Kahn designed Art Deco jewel; views of funky outdoor art exhibits and much more.

We’re making sure you get the best, all-inclusive tour of one of the most exciting cities in the US. Be prepared to sing a little, dance a little and be amazed. As always, we promise our passionate guides will take you on a tour to remember and show you what Detroit is really all about!

NOTE: The book A History Lover’s Guide to Detroit written by our founder is the perfect complement to this tour. Purchase it online at major bookstores before your visit to acquaint yourself with the city. Or, purchase an autographed copy as a souvenir when booking your tour and receive the special price of $16 (down from $21.99, the regular retail price).
