This is more of an experience than a tour. Four major conductors in the UGRR, dress in character and walk you through the city’s major locations, where, in the 1840s and 50s, was a hotbed of abolitionist sentiment and where thousands of fugitive slaves were spirited in secret to various “stops,” then onto awaiting boats to take them to freedom—less than a mile away in Windsor, Ontario. I’m a native Detroiter and this was my second time on the tour; it was that good! Read more

8 Mile: The Movie Sites Tour takes you to the many Detroit filming locations where the main character Jimmy/B-Rabbit, played by Marshall Mathers AKA Eminem, hung out as he attempted to rise above a dysfunctional family life and unfulfilling 9 to 5 and take his one shot at becoming a rap star.
Sites you’ll see on this 4-hour, comprehensive bus tour include the infamous 8 Mile Road, iconic cow head, locations used for the 8 Mile Mobile Court, Detroit New Stamping, and The Shelter. Tour includes access inside the Michigan Theater parking structure featured in the film AND the once-famous, former Hip Hop Shop where Eminem got his start. The Hip Hop Shop served as the inspiration behind the movie rap battles held at The Shelter.
Of course, an 8 Mile movie tour wouldn’t be complete without a stop at Mom’s Spaghetti where you’ll enjoy an included S’ghetti Sandwich.
Plenty of photo ops, fun, and prizes. There will be contests so brush up on your 8 Mile and Eminem facts, rap skills, and feel free to dress as your favorite character from the movie.
Be prepared to “lose yourself” on 8 Mile: The Movie Sites Tour and rekindle the magic of this iconic movie filmed locally and loved globally – even 20 years later.
Note: Many of the filming locations are private property so access may be limited to public sidewalks. Please be respectful of this. Circumstances beyond our control such as power outages, large events, etc. may curtail/alter planned stops and/or the tour route. Therefore we may need to make comparable substitutions.

Nancy was our guide for the See the D tour. We decided to take a visiting out-of-town relative down to Detroit, but realized we didn’t know much about it despite having lived here all of our lives. Nancy was extremely informative and accommodating. Read more
To be honest, I didn’t have the best impression of Detroit before visiting but Pat at City Tour Detroit changed all that! She was a wonderful tour guide that had so much passion and love of Detroit…it was definitely contagious! I learned so much from her — she had great facts about all the locations we visited. 10/10 Read more

This was a very fun activity to enjoy downtown Detroit. The stories are interesting and some are quite grim. I think that much of the enjoyment is dependent upon how well the group interacts and plays along with the tour guide. This 2.5 hr tour on foot is very easy to walk. Read more
